- Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom & Tap Presents their 7th Competition! Nearly 2,500 local students from 45 schools will take center stage in the seventh annual, citywide Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap (MHBT) Competition. This event is free and open to the public. The event kicks off at 10 a.m. with an opening ceremony featuring students, teachers and principals from participating schools. The MHBT Competition welcomes new partners to the event this year. Milwaukee County Transit Systems will provide free bus transportation to and from the BMO Harris Bradley Center between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 p.m. on May 18, removing a barrier to attending for some of the children. Additionally, Goodwill Industries of Southeastern Wisconsin has provided vouchers redeemable for appropriate clothing for the Competition. Danceworks Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap is an educational dance program for schoolchildren in the Greater Milwaukee area targeting primarily very low-income schools in Milwaukee's central city. During the 2011-12 school year, MHBT served 43 Milwaukee public and private schools. MHBT provides desperately needed arts programming directly in the schools, while building artistic, academic and social skills among students.
